Catch Report |
| 22nd - 29th of September 2007 |
Another very busy week in September, with 11 anglers, 73 fish landed and 11 lost out of 84 runs. They've had in total 16 doubles, 17 x 20's, 25 x 30's, 12 x 40's and 3 x 50's - 50 1/2lb, 50 3/4lb & 52lb. A good week all around with plenty of big fish coming out. Eliot Drew had the best catch of his party, 18 fish - 2 doubles, 4 twenties, 9 thirties and 3 forties, followed by Steve with 15 fish, amongst them a 50 1/2lb. |
| 15th - 22nd of September 2007 |
Another week with a BIG SURPRISE! One of our guests landed a 58 1/2lb in spanking condition! We were more than pleased with the result because at the end of the day people come here to have a nice holiday and catch a few good fish. 9 people managed to bank 67 fish: 13 doubles, 18 x 20's, 22 x 30's, 6 x 40's up to 48lb, 1 pike, 5 smaller catfish and another monster of 82lb and of course a true gem, a carp of 58 1/2lb caught by John Paul Graham. We would also like to mention another angler of their party, Bob Cracknell, which landed no less than 34 fish as follows - 8 doubles, 13 x 20's, 10 x 30's, 45 1/4lb, 48lb and 82lb catfish. Well done to all of them! |
| 8th - 15th of September 2007 |
Second week of September and we're still very busy, this time three parties which after a few days have mixed very well. John and Ben also tried to watch over the fish that had been caught and show people a safe way to return them into their watery home. Hopefully the message is getting across and the fish are swimming around unharmed. 11 anglers put their effort in and they came up with 64 fish landed - 13 doubles, 14 x 20's, 25 x 30's and 12 x 40's up to 47 3/4lb. |
| 1st - 8th of September 2007 |
Beginning of autumn, very nice weather, in fact more sunshine than we've had all summer! Only 6 people gracing our lake but what a week! Plenty of fish caught and everybody enjoyed himself, what more can you ask? The tally for the week as follows - 14 doubles, 15 x 20lb, 24 x 30lb, 10 x 40lb up to 47 1/2lb, 50 1/4lb, 50 1/2lb, 51 1/2lb and a 47lb catfish! Again we are pleased to see that the fish are growing and continue to put on weight. |
| 25th of August - 1st of September 2007 |
End of summer and we're welcoming 8 anglers to fish at our venue. Most of them didn't put the rods out all the time prefering also to have some light banter. A total of 45 fish was caught out of 48 runs - 9 doubles, 14 x 20lb, 14 x 30lb, 6 x 40lb and 2 catfish. All around has been a good week with not too many fish lost which pleases us. |
| 18th - 25th of August 2007 |
After a quiet week, another busier one, 7 people fishing and 2 non-fishing guests and by the end of the week they managed to bank 58 fish and loose 21!! We'd like to see less situations like this though. The fish list - 10 doubles, 16 x 20's, 21 x 30's, 8 x 40's and three catfish up to 87lb, the NEW CATFISH RECORD which was moved across to the small lake. Our intentions are to make the little lake a catfish one in the future. The best catch of the week belonged to Dom Aldred, 12 fish in total, 3 doubles, 20lb, 22lb, 26lb, 29 1/2lb, 30lb, 34lb, 36lb, 39 1/2lb and 46lb! Ben caught the catfish during the night and as we said before there must be bigger ones in there!! |
| 11th - 18th of August 2007 |
A quiet week, initially we wanted to close it down but in the end we had two guests, one fishing and one just relaxing. John also did some fishing and banked 8 fish, three big catfish amongst them - 48lb, 54lb, 57lb - and 3 x 30lb and 41lb, 48lb carp. On the other hand, our guest Nick Parkinson, on his 5th visit at Etang des Royales had a brilliant week with 28 fish as follows - 2 doubles, 3 x 20lb, 3 x 25lb, 26lb, 33lb, 34lb, 2 x 36lb, 37lb, 3 x 38lb, 38 1/2lb, 2 x 39lb, 40 1/4lb, 2 x 42lb, 44lb, 47lb, 49lb, 19lb catfish and a 51 1/4lb carp, the second fish over the 50lb mark that came out this year! We wish for more catches like this in the future! |
| 4th - 11th of August 2007 |
Another hard week with the temperature being up and down which turned off the fishing. Five guests at our place that landed 19 carp out of 29 runs - 8 x 20lb, 7 x 30lb, 4 x 40lb. Each of them managed to catch something but Roger Lake put 6 fish on the bank - 21lb, 27lb, 28 1/2lb, 36lb, 2 x 43lb. Well done to all! |
| 28th of July - 4th of August 2007 |
No rest for the wicked!! Our big lake saw again 10 anglers trying their chance, luck, bait and talent and at the end of the week we counted 65 fish caught and 18 lost, a total of 83 runs. Everybody enjoyed himself and it was nice to see some "old" faces again that brought new guests. The tally - 7 doubles, 19 x 20lb, 22 x 30lb, 12 x 40lb and 5 catfish, the biggest being 51lb. Lewis Faragher managed 13 of them as follows: 2 doubles, 20lb, 23 1/2lb, 24 1/2lb, 26 1/4lb, 26 1/2lb, 30lb, 31lb, 32lb, 38lb, 44 1/2lb & 46lb. |
| 21st - 28th of July 2007 |
Another party of eight friends on the big lake, some of them returned guests as well. The weather still mixed, warm with showers when you expected less. They had good time and caught well, the total amount was 61 fish out of 79 runs - 11 doubles, 13 x 20's, 21 x 30's, 10 x 40's up to 49lb, 6 catfish - 7lb, 10lb, 44lb, 50 3/4lb, 58lb, 68 1/2lb. Daryl and Stu, both have had the best out of it with 12 fish and one catfish each! Now it's really the season when the catfish are feeding and our guests seem to land a lot of them. Great fight and good sport! |
| 14th - 21st of July 2007 |
Well, looks like July this year hasn't been the best for fishing. Still our four guests had a good week with new PBs and experiences. The tally was - 4 doubles, 1 twenty, 4 x 30lb, 5 x 40lb and 50 carp out of the little lake, all part of a learning curve. It's fun to go on the stock lake and be busy all the time. Good sport, keeps you on your toes! |
| 7th - 14th of July 2007 |
Busy, busy, busy again. But despite our wishes the fish didn't play their part due to the weather conditions and late spawning. Only 28 fish were landed out of 39 runs - 7 doubles, 9 x 20lb, 9 x 30lb, 1 x 40lb and two catfish - 18lb and 43 3/4lb. You never know with fishing, you might have great catches sometimes and other times might be slower... this makes it challenging and keeps us interested! |
| 30th of June - 7th of July 2007 |
A big party of 12 anglers graced our venue this time, most of them repeated guests. It was a fun week and it was good to see again familiar faces. The fish were possibly spawning for the second time this year which didn't make fising any easier! We counted a number of 75 runs, 58 of them landed - 10 doubles, 19 x 20lb, 17 x 30lb, 11 x 40lb and a small catfish. The most successful angler was Lewis Chenery with 12 fish under his belt! |
| 23rd - 30th of June 2007 |
Not a very busy week as far as number of anglers at our venue but plenty of catches! Just three guests fishing the lake, plus John and a total of 68 fish on the bank out of 76 runs. Richard McGinnis managed 29 fish and a brilliant week. Not to forget the NEW LAKE RECORD caught by Steve Eastment the same week. All together a very good catch with 5 doubles, 17 x 20's, 30 x 30's, 15 x 40's & 52 3/4lb! John had 6 fish - 31lb, 32lb common, 35 1/4lb, 37lb, 47lb and 49 1/2lb. |
| 16th - 23rd of June 2007 |
Getting busy again, 9 anglers, their first visit to Etang des Royales. The weather started very hot and after that cooled down a bit but not sure if it did any justice to the fishing. Our guests caught 38 fish and lost 24 between them - 1 double, 15 x 20's, 14 x 30's, 42 1/2lb, 2 x 45lb, 45 1/2, 48lb and 3 catfish - 31lb, 52lb & 62lb. We do hope for less losses in the future! |
| 9th - 16th of June 2007 |
A totally different week with four couples, good company and a marriage proposal!! The ladies were sharing the chalet while the gentlemen were on the bank trying to catch a few... And they did. The tally for the week, 33 fish landed and 11 lost. John and Ben tried their luck and they managed 6 of the total - 3 doubles, 13 x 20's, 6 x 30's, 6 x 40's and 5 catfish, up to 47lb. We wish for more weeks of this kind because there is plenty to do in the towns around for the ladies that want to accompany their partners, especially in summer months. |
| 2nd - 9th of June 2007 |
Not just another week but what a week! We are very proud to announce that Kevin Jefferies, aka Biggie, managed to land a stunning 52 1/2lb in perfect condition, checked also on our scales. On his fifth visit he banked no less than 25 fish as follows: 2 doubles, 20lb, 25lb, 2 x 27lb, 28lb, 30lb, 32lb, 33lb, 34 1/2lb, 2 x 35lb, 35 1/2lb, 37lb, 41lb, 44lb, 44 1/2lb, 46lb, 46 1/2lb, 48 1/4lb, 52 1/2lb and three catfish up to 42lb! At the end of the week they landed a total of 102 fish and lost 21, which could have been maybe bigger. Will never know. The tally for the week - 17 doubles, 39 x 20's, 34 x 30's, 8 x 40's - 40 1/4lb, 40 1/2lb, 41 1/4lb, 42 3/4lb, 45 1/2lb, 46 3/4lb, 47lb, 48 1/2lb - and four catfish - 17lb, 47 3/4lb, 50lb & 51 3/4lb. Dale had the best catch of them all, banking 22 fish, but a very good week all round. Well done and looking forward to October when we'll be seeing them again! |

For the second week of the season we had just three anglers willing to freeze at night and get a bit warmer during daytime. Hard conditions! But when it comes to fishing, it doesn't matter as long as one could bank a few hungry fish. The total catch for the week, including Ben and John, was 23 carp - 13 x 20's, 8 x 30's & 2 x 40's. Looking forward to better weather! |

| Season 2007 |
Spring! After a warm winter, as expected, a colder March. Rainy days, frosty nights and very hard fishing conditions... but something's in the air! We'd like to welcome back our repeated guests and of course the new people that have decided to choose Etang des Royales! Ahead of us is a long season full of surprises. Tight lines everyone! |
